Amsterdam-based Bluetick comes under the Sdu umbrella

Legal content supplier Sdu, a subsidiary of legal, tax and regulatory knowledge provider Lefebvre Sarrut, has acquired Amsterdam-based startup Bluetick, it announced in early January.

Bluetick produces  AI-based software designed to help lawyers perform  legal searches more efficiently. It provides a central search hub so that relevant content is displayed in one place and users don’t have to browse documents themselves. It links search results to one another, referencing specific legal cases and indicating when there’s a relationship between them. And the AI allows the software to contextualize a user’s search query based on the local legal system and other relevant data.

Like all AI-based tools, Bluetick relies on vast amounts of data to enhance and refine its research. The Sdu acquisition will provide Bluetick with access to Sdu’s legal databases, boosting the accuracy and comprehensiveness of its research.

Bluetick was founded in 2019 by four Master’s students from Jheronimus Academy of Data Science in Den Bosch. In 2020, the firm raised EUR 210k in pre-seed funding from investment funds henQ Capital and ASIF Ventures. Bluetick’s software was developed with the support of seven leading law firms, including AKD, Kienhuishoving and Damsté, according to its websiteSdu,a knowledge partner for legal and tax professionals, supports its clients by offering software tools and services to enhance their business practices. Sdu plans to incorporate Bluetick’s research engine to offer its clients more efficient content navigation.
